Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Zodiac Review and Swatches (+ Bonus Look)

Moondust Eyeshadow in Zodiac is the first Urban Decay product I’ve tried and I must say that it looks beautiful! An exciting product range with details on design, colour and product quality is something Urban Decay excel on. Not to mention, their eyeshadow palettes, Naked and Vice are to die for.
I got this Moondust Eyeshadow in my British Beauty Blogger Beauty Box 2. I’m not a person who spends a fortune on eye shadows, so I’m glad that I got to try this without having to spend £14.

Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Zodiac (£14)
Product Description:
Sparkly shadow goes
ultra-sophisticated—with intense hues, microfine sparkle and lush, 3-D
metallics. New technology gives Moondust an amazing effect not found in
traditional pressed-powder shadows. It feels like a cream but goes on like a
powder to create a smooth, brilliantly reflective look. The result? Sexy,
twinkling sparkle with a ton of depth and movement. (And a LOT of questions
about what you’re wearing!)
My View:
I think the deep green colour is absolutely gorgeous and the sparkles makes it great for party wear! I applied Moondust Zodiac with a brush and the first thing I noticed is that the pigment isn’t as magnificent as I expected it to be. The shadow itself is a mossy green colour, but I felt like I was wearing many built up glittery layers rather than applying a shimmering green eye shadow. However, as the name suggests, it is after all, a “dust.” Since I’m not a makeup artist/expert, I found it a little difficult to work with because I’m used to wearing solid matte eye shadows. So unfortunately, I managed to get glitter all over my face on my first attempt! It did improve after some practice though. 😛
I would definitely wear it with a primer and a base eye shadow in order for the glitter to stay on for longer and to bring out some more pigment. Here I’m wearing it with Maybelline Eye Studio Marbleized Eyeshadow (discontinued), which is the lighter shade.

Background: the “castle” in the background is called Belvedere Tower, situated in Claremont Landscape Garden. I think it looks beautiful and I would love to live there. I chose the background based on the fact that the Moondust Eyeshadow looks rather like a fairy tale! 😉

I wish it looked as green on the eyelids as it does on the swatch, but it's still pretty. You look amazing and love the castle background!

True! I was quite generous when applying, but I do wish it was more pigmented with one swipe. Thanks a lot x
